01

How we came to the breed

We came home from the Navy with our first two Akitas, and that was that. More than 47 years later, the breed still runs our life. Once you know the heart and loyalty of an Akita, there is no other dog — and everything we've bred since has been in service of that first impression.

02

Our breeding philosophy

We believe in breeding for conformation, but most of all temperament. Our puppies are born in our home and raised around our family and children — temperament tested, handled daily, and raised the way a family dog should be. Pedigree research has been done to ensure our breedings are of top quality.

03

The old American type

We strive to produce the old-style American Akita: big-boned, with a large, bear-like head. A lot of Akita puppies are born dark or nearly black and lighten to fawn or red as they grow — our foundation sire Diablo stayed black. We breed American type only, and we keep only a few dogs — they must be of top quality.

04

Pedigrees built on the greats

The dogs in our pedigrees include many Champions, Registers of Merit, and Best in Show and Best in Specialty winners — the top producing and winning Akitas of all time: Redwitch, Goshen, Namika, Regalia, O'BJ, Big Bear, Mariah, Keepsake, and Kuroi Kao.

05

Where our puppies live

We have placed puppies in 15 states, plus Canada and the Philippines — including with many families who had owned an Akita before. Every puppy we place goes home with a bill of sale stating whether it is placed for show or as a family pet.

06

Is an Akita right for you?

We encourage you to do your research. Akitas may not be for everyone — they demand a lot of attention and are born leaders. If you have other pets, early introductions are a must; introduced correctly, an Akita will protect another pet as if it were its human companion. And dog ownership should be a lifetime commitment. It is best to start training an Akita puppy at a young age — your puppy will enjoy the time you spend with it, will look to you for encouragement, and will want to make you happy.
